REVEREND JOHN G. HOOKS, PASTOR
Rev. John G. Hooks is a native of Lake Placid, FL. He attended Bethune-Cookman College (University), Daytona Beach, FL and is an alumnus of Saint Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY. Pastor Hooks also received his Masters of Pastoral Studies at New York Theological Seminary, New York, NY.
Pastor Hooks has been leading the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church of Lakeland, Florida, since 2007. He has served as the Congress President of Congress 4, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Association and the 1st Vice President of the General Baptist State Convention Congress of Christian Education. Pastor Hooks entered the Ministry at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Newburgh, NY, where he served as an Associate Minister for six years and was subsequently ordained to preach the Gospel. He served as the Cluster President and Home Mission Chairperson for Central Hudson Baptist Association (CHBA) and was appointed to lead the Senior High Department of the Empire State Missionary Baptist Convention Congress of Christian Education.
Rev. Hooks served as a Computer Systems Administrator / Manager at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Pastor Hooks proudly served in the United States Army, where he received numerous awards and citations, the highest being the Meritorious Service Medal 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster prior to retirement. Pastor Hooks served as Region II Council President of Blacks in Government as well as President for West Point Chapter of Blacks In Government. He is a member of the NAACP and Blacks in Government both nationally and locally.
He is married to the former Denise M. Bristol and is the father of three daughters, Ryanna a 2003 graduate of Bethune-Cookman College (University), Kimberly a 2004 graduate of Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY and Julina 2006 graduate of Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.
