Our history
Harmony Missionary Baptist Church has been servicing the Lakeland community for over one hundred years. Since 2007, Reverend John G. Hooks has served as pastor. Under his leadership, the church has adopted the theme of “Each One, Reach One: Growing Together in Christ” as we seek to continue to grow and advance the kingdom of God through evangelism. As we continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and missions work, we look forward to what the Lord will continue to do in the life of our church.
Our Pastor
Rev. John Gregory Hooks is a native of Lake Placid, FL. He is an alumnus of Bethune-Cookman College, Saint Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, N.Y. and New York Theological Seminary, New York, N.Y. Pastor Hooks has been leading the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church of Lakeland, Florida, since 2007. Rev. Hooks served as a Computer Systems Administrator / Manager at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Pastor Hooks proudly served in the United States Army, where he received numerous awards and citations. He is a member of the NAACP and Blacks in Government both nationally and locally. He is married to the former Denise M. Bristol and is the father of three daughters, Ryanna, Kimberly, and Julina. Click here to read more about Pastor Hooks
